The Battle For The Republic Begins

November 8, 2009

Folks, we already have the power to stop Obama in his tracks. The Tenth Amendment is the key. The Tenth Amendment is very simple and quite elegant:

‘The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Easy to understand, isn’t it? I would say a sixth grader could easily comprehend the Amendment. So is health care and global climate change legislation a Federal responsiblity? Article One, Section Eight of our constitution sets out 18 enumerated powers that the states granted the Federal Government.

To lay and collect taxes and duties, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States.

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several States, and with the indian tribes;

To establish an uniform rule of naturalization, and uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures;

To provide for the punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current coin of the United States;

To establish Post Offices and post roads (plain old roads needed to carry the mail between the states)

To set patents and copyrights.

To form courts inferior to the Supreme Court;

To define and punish piracies and felonies committed on the high Seas, and offenses against the law of nations;

To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water;

To raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years;

To provide and maintain a navy;

To make rules for the government and regulation of the land and naval forces;

To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the Union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the Militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

To control the District of Columbia, our nation’s capitol, and to erect forts, magazines, arsenals, dock yards and other needed buildings.

To make laws necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers.

Conspicuously absent are any mention of health care or environmental laws, so the answer to the question of who is responsible is easy to figure out, the Tenth Amendment says it all, if it isn’t one of the 18 enumerated powers, the states and the people are responsible for those areas. What happened was the Supreme Court decided that a few words imbedded in Article One, Section Eight gave the Feds the right do do anything they wished, the “general welfare” clause and the “commerce” clause.

The commerce clause again is quite simple:

“To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes.”

How the Justices could warp this into allowing the Feds to usurp States rights and our personal rights is beyond me.

The complete text of the “necessary and proper” clause is also simple:

“To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.”

The Justices ignored three simple words, “the foregoing Powers”, which clearly states that the Feds can do what is needed to carry out the eighteen enumerated powers, then they warped that to allow the Feds to stick their nose into anything they wished. It is quite simple, the Feds can contract to build a post office, build roads to carry the mail, hire postmen, none of which are specifically listed, but they are necessary and proper to establish a Post Office.

So the Federal government has been trampling on our rights and State’s rights for many decades. That doesn’t mean we don’t still have those rights, it just means we need to stand up and demand the Feds stop. Last year, the Oklahoma legislature passed two Tenth Amendment proclamations, the first was vetoed by Governor Henry, the second passed in such a way that Henry couldn’t stop it. That proclamation was delivered to Obama, a shot across the bow, stating that the Oklahoma was no longer tolerating the trespass. That was fair warning, now it is time to put teeth into our demands.

Brogdon, Key, Murphy, and many more conservative Oklahoma politicians have already drafted bills to do just that but they need the people to get behind them and make sure those bills get passed.

So, the OCA will get behind these bills, we will ask our Tea Party volunteers to show up at the capitol to lobby for these bills, to take training classes so that the volunteers know how to lobby effectively. The first of these training classes will occur on the 14th of this month, a special class to “train the trainers”, who will then train others to spread out across this great state. The goal is to train hundreds if not thousands of regular Oklahoma citizens to be ready to come down to the capitol and help push these bills through.

The battle will always be local, it does no good for our OKC people to lobby a state senator from Tulsa, he will listen only to those that vote for him, those that he represents. We will need Tulsa voters to influence a Tulsa Senator.

So we need as many volunteers as possible to sign up for one of these legislative training classes as possible. The classes will begin in late November and will continue until the legislation session is ended. We don’t expect everyone to spend a lot of time down at the capitol, phone calls and emails will help, but from time to time, we will need to call out the troops, to make a mass visit to the capitol to let the legislators see our numbers. Like in the movie “Patriot” with Mel Gibson, we don’t expect you to sign up for a long war, rather we will ask you to fire three rounds for us, then go back to your lives, make some money, take care of that family till we need you once again.

So please contact us and sign up for legislative lobbying training ASAP!

Constitutional Convention Third Week in February With Sheriff Mack

November 8, 2009

The third week in Februrary the Sooner Tea Party is hosting the first Oklahoma Constitutional Alliance convention. All the statewide conservative groups will have booths set up to recruit new volunteers, to pass out information, and to help conduct training seminars. We will have speakers from constitutional groups, state legislators, and we are even bringing in Sheriff Mack, the sheriff from Arizona that stopped Bill Clinton’s attempts in 1994 to enforce the Brady bill by forcing local law enforcement to do their dirty work.

Sheriff Mack is now retired, but he tours the country speaking, writing books, and educating the county sheriffs on their unique power to stop the Federal government in their own county. The Supreme Court decsion that Sheriff Mack made clear the extrodinary power of the county sheriff, they didn’t have to enforce Federal laws in their county, and they could stop an unconstitutional law from being enforced. For more info on Sheriff Mack visit his website:

Sheriff Mack’s website

Sheriff Mack is going to speak at the February convention, a ticketed event, with the profits going to fund matching grants for bulletproof vests for county deputies here in Oklahoma. I was quite surprised to find out that not all counties provided vests for their officers, we all remember the two deputies that recently were gunned down, neither was wearing a vest.

We hope to sell 3,000 tickets, as well as gathering donations to go toward the vest program. Some will ask why we are getting involved, we have enough to do already, but the vest program is designed to pull the sheriffs into a meeting with Sheriff Mack, where he will have a chance to educate them and to answer any questions they may have. If the sheriff of a county shows up, his department gets to participate in the vest program where the OCA will match funds with the county commissioners to purchase bullet proof vests for the deputies.

Not all counties will need vests, and not all counties will have the funds for their part of the vest grant, but we will help them rally the locals and make this happen. The ultimate goal here is two fold, to get the sheriffs to understand that they are the supreme law in their county, that they can kick the Feds out if unconstitutional laws are imposed in their county, and to show the politiicans that law enforcement will back up States rights if they lead the way.

Already we have raised enough money to buy some of Sheriff Mack’s booklets, to hand out to each and every county sheriff here in Oklahoma and to influential legislators. There will be extra copies that we will sell to help fund the bulletproof vest grant fund and to defray the expense of bringing Sheriff Mack to Oklahoma City.

We will also have Sheriff Mack speak to the legislators, to show them that it isn’t only the governor that can call out the state militia, that a posse is the state militia in another name.

The end game is all of this is threefold, to stand up the sheriffs, the legislators, and the people to get ready to stop Obama Care and Cap and Trade at the Oklahoma border. This is legal, it is possible, and much of the ground work has been laid.

Folks, the battle for our Republic has been raging for over a year now. Oklahoma, the reddest state in the Union, needs to lead the other states in this effort. Once we stand up, the others will follow. Already the state senators and represenatives have been meeting with fellow legislators from other states, planning to defeat Obama if the insanity continues. Now is the time for Tea Party people to do more than wave signs and show up at tea parties, we must carry the battle into the statehouse and show the politicians that we want this to happen.

Please contact us for advance tickets for the convention, for the Sheriff Mack speech, and to donate to the vest grant program. If you happen to know a county sheriff personally, we would love to have you help us get one of Sheriff Mack’s books into their hands.

Want To Go On A RINO Hunt?

November 8, 2009

Few in the Tea Party effort are as protective as I am toward the movement. Republicans are trying like hell to hi jack the movement to serve their interests. Many of us, myself included, are angry at the Republicans as well as the Democrats, after all the Republicans were supposed to be conservative. They have truly betrayed the country.

Unfortunately, we are a two party state. We can not start a new party, it is too hard to get one on the ballot due to ballot restrictions. But there is one thing that we can do, help kick the stuffing out of the RINO Republicans and regain control of the party.

Everyone knows what a RINO is, Republican In Name Only. The Republican establishment backs these liberal Republicans in races in a mistaken belief that only a liberal Republican can win. Right now there is about one third “establishment” RINO Republicans, one third truly conservative Republicans, and the other third are clueless or waiting for a winner to pop their head up.

The goal is to get Tea Party volunteers to rejoin the Republican party, volunteer to be a precinct official, and start gaining control of the Republican party from the precinct level up. They have many, many, vacant precinct positions waiting for people to fill them. Once you are in, you go to about four meetings in a years time, then you are eligible to vote in their internal elections. If we can get a few thousand conservative Tea Party volunteers to do this, we can put the conservative Republicans back in control of the party. Once in, RINOs will not be endorsed, instead the Republican party can declare these RINOs to be acting against Republican values. We can also set the agenda and planks for the party, redefine what it is to be a Republican.
And you know what? A good public a** whipping is just what the RINOs need right now.

So folks, we are going RINO hunting. We need as many people as possible to attend the activist training classes that we are beginning to set up. The first is on the 14th, in Tulsa Oklahoma, the second will be here in OKC. Eventually we will begin holding classes across the state as we line up activist trainers and obtain meeting space.

The establishment RINOs are already on to us, they denied the use of the Republican Party offices for our first training seminar in Tulsa, not a problem, we will rent something. Make no bones about this, it will NOT be the Republicans taking over the Tea Party, it will be the Tea Party taking over the Republican party. There will be no more voting Republican as the lesser of evils, the Republicans will run good, decent, conservative candidates or we will defeat them at the polls like the Tea Party people did in New York state district 23 a few days ago. Counterprotest at Coburn’s OKC Office

October 7, 2009
I'm tired of waiting for the nuts to drop, it is Acorn time...

I'm tired of waiting for the nuts to drop, it is Acorn time... ( or is it ogre?) is attempting to set up a protest at Senator Coburn’s Oklahoma City office on October 14th. This is part of a national effort to pressure congressmen to support Obama Care. They are sending out emails asking people to sign up to host a protest, offering to line up speakers, provide handouts, even signs for those willing to be their puppet.

Quite amazing that the Democrats rail about “astro turf” all the while they are the experts and busing people in and propping them up with a pre printed sign in their hands.

If you want to participate, we have pulled a permit so we can use a sound system, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, so we can pre empt any protest. The idea is to get there early, stake out the best area, and if they do show, drown them out with a sound system. : ) We will need a few people to man the show and call in re inforcements if needed, so that most of us can go about our work till the nutty ones show up.

We can put out the word at the Sunday meeting and hopefully get plenty of people there. Coburn isn’t wavering, the idea is to show the liberals how hopeless it is to show up in Oklahoma. Plus we will get some media attention to drive more members into our group. The 912ers are offering to help out man the barricades if we pulled the permit so we ought to have a rowdy crowd to gather up the rotten Acorns.

So get a lawn chair ready, sign up for all day or part, it is squirrell time!

First Sooner Tea Party General Membership Meeting October 11th

October 7, 2009

The Sooner Tea Party will have its first open meeting for the general public on October 11th, at 3:00 pm.

Due to the short notice, the meeting will be held at my shop, The Carpenter Shop, 358 North Rockwell Ave, Oklahoma City, OK, 73127. When you get to that address, drive behind the smaller green metal buildings to where the large concrete buildings are, the ones with the truck docks running across the front. If you get lost in the parking lot, call 405-412-6233 for assistance.

We will go over what we have been doing since we organized, the July 4th Tea party, the August 22nd Health Care Rally, the March on D.C., and upcoming events and projects. The Legislature will restart early next year, and we all need to be ready to help push through the needed legislation to make Oklahoma a bastion of freedom and prosperity.

We are also hosting a statewide meeting for leaders of the other patriot groups on the 10th. It is time that all the groups started working to push through needed projects and began to share information and resources. We will have a report on the progress for the Sunday meeting.

So we would love to see you at the Sunday meeting, share some information with you and get you active in our group if you have the time to participate. Don’t expect a lot at this first meeting, we just want to say hi and tell you about what is going on. Bring a folding chair if you have one, or a lawn chair. If the weather is pretty, we will meet outside, or inside if the weather isn’t cooperating.

See you there,

Al Gerhart

Statewide Meeting of Patriot Groups October 10th

October 7, 2009

There will be a statewide meeting of patriot groups on October 10th here in Oklahoma City. We are asking each group or chapter of each group (their digression depending on how rigid their organizational structure is) to send a maximum of three people, one of which is the designated spokesperson for the event. The idea is to have a large meeting of the groups and still be able to cover the important points quickly.

Sooner Tea Party is the organizer of the event. OCPAC, OKSAFE, Oklahoma Patriots for America, the various 9/12 groups,JBS, Fair Tax, OKfortea,and others have signed on already. We are just now starting to contact the other groups.

The idea is to find out who is out there, their rough numbers, and find where we can cooperate. The initial meeting will not take any action besides throwing out some ideas that we might be able to all agree upon. We want the three members or leaders of each group to take the information back to their groups, gain consensus, then return with a yeah or a nay.

Here are a few ideas that have been put forward that we might all support:

An Oklahoma Constitutional amendment to place term limits on our Federal representatives.

Push a tougher 10th Amendment resolution through past the governors veto or write and pass a new bill with some teeth. We may have to pursue two tracks, the legislation route, and a putting a petition for a popular vote to ensure it happens. Having a petition drive might make the leaders run out in front of the topic to sign on.

Helping conservative Republicans retake control of the Republican party, starting at the precinct level, then capturing the chair of the committees from the lowest level to the top. We would need 5 to 10 thousand patriots to register as republicans and to take the time to make four meetings so as to enable them to vote in the critical elections to chose the chairs and the committees.

The same could be done for the Democrats if we had enough people.

Bringing in Sheriff Mack to speak to Oklahoma Sheriffs and to the public.

I would ask if your group would attend and send some ideas along with your representatives.

Consider this as a pre meeting, there will need to be another late October or early November meeting for those that are wanting to participate. Then a final action meeting will coincide with a statewide convention at the Oklahoma City State Fairgrounds in mid January, the 15th and 16th. One day will be devoted to the groups setting goals and areas of responsibility, the other day will be open to the public with booths, speakers, and events aimed toward growing every group’s roster of volunteers. We can get some seminars set up for lobbying training, fund raising fundamentals for groups, all sorts of valuable education.

The entire thrust of this effort is two fold, to support the smaller groups and increase their strength, and to get everyone to get behind three or four common projects that move the ball further down the field.

The meeting will be held at my shop, The Carpenter Shop, 358 North Rockwell Ave, Oklahoma City, OK, 73127. The address is an industrial park, drive in behind the smaller green metal buildings to the large concrete buildings with the truck dock front. Call 405-412-6233 if you get lost.

Brigadier General Casamir Pulaski

Brigadier General Casamir Pulaski, Freedom Plaza

Born into a noble family in Poland, Casamir Pulaski was so inspired by the American struggle for liberty that he immigrated and joined the Continental Army in 1777.  An experienced cavalry officer who had fought the Russians for Polish liberty, during his short career he was appointed Brigadier General and eventually put in command of all American cavalry forces.  He led his troops in a number of battles before being mortally wounded in combat at Savannah, Georgia, in 1779.

A number of STP members spent a great day in our nation’s capitol.  Al, Christina and I took most of the morning and early afternoon to attend a grassroots organizing seminar put on by Viguerie Marketing Institute.  There was a lot of good information, and Richard Viguerie was inspiring to hear.  Ben Hart and Diana Banister also spoke about key aspects of grassroots activism.  We learned a lot and will be bringing that knowledge back to the STP.

Al asks a question of the panel.

Al asks a question of the panel.

Then it was off to visit Congressional offices with Ethel, a fellow Tea Partier here from Massachusetts.  Al and Christina had visited the Oklahoma offices yesterday, so today we went by Joe Wilson’s to offer some encouragement, and then to Olympia Snowe’s, to tell her representatives that we hoped she would vote against Obamacare.

Later we met up with a number of other STP members for dinner.  Afterward, group of us went to the front gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center to participate in the demonstration to show support for our wounded veterans.  My guesstimate is 150-200 showed up for it (Update: Al thinks more like 500), many carrying flags and signs of support for our troops.  Drivers passing by honked and waved.  This ongoing rally is a response to anti-war demonstrators who used to protest at the front gate of the hospital.  About 20 anti-war demonstrators had their own rally some distance away.

After that we drove back to our hotel, but even then couldn’t get away from the Tea Party — there were two busloads of patriots from the Great State of Indiana at the hotel!  There’s a lot of pretty excited Americans here tonight.

Tomorrow’s the big march!  We’ll be up early to meet our busload of spirited fellow protesters from Oklahoma and then rally with fellow patriots from around the country at Freedom Plaza.  From there, the spirit of General Pulaski will set us off on our march to restore the freedoms he and many others died for.

Don’t Forget: 9/12 Watch Party!

9/12 Watch Party

How Far Will You Go?

August 26, 2009

Join the Sooner Tea Party as we March on D.C. September 10th, 11th, and 12th

For more info, email

Join us in a massive protest march on Saturday, the 12th of September, in our nation’s capitol. There are dozens of patriot groups from around the nation joining forces to funnel our frustration into direct action. You think the politicians pay attention when we write or call them? Wait till a million taxpayers march up to the steps of the capitol and demand that this mess be cleaned up!

How to get there:

Charter buses are being organized, the cost will be around $240 per seat, take an extra $100 for food/drink or motel should the schedule allow stopping. Possible departures would be early Friday morning (11th) for a non stop drive (breaks and food stops of course) or Thursday night (10th) departure with a motel stop several hours outside Washington D.C. on Friday night. The buses will return late Sunday night. The buses are luxurious, they have reclining seats for sleeping, there is a rest room and a kitchenette on board most buses. The buses are just now being organized, with a deadline of September 1rst. Only full or nearly full buses will be contracted. Contact

Car pools, there are many citizens driving their cars loaded with friends and families. Estimated costs would be between $120 and $150 per adult person depending upon gas mileage, motel stops, and eating expense. Figure about 21 hours driving time one way, around 100 to 150 gallons of gas round trip, so if drivers were switched, an early Friday morning departure will get you there in time for the March. The cars will be organized into convoys for mutual aid, decorate your car with signs, honk at supporters that will line the roads in support, and make a parade out of this trip! The local patriot groups will turn out the news media along the way, showing a mass of citizens streaming toward D.C. will bring even more patriotic citizens to shame our leaders into action. Contact

Airline tickets are running around $250 and up for a round trip fare, although they will get more expensive the closer to the event. There are no overnight flights, so a motel in the D.C area is a must.

Inexpensive motels start at $75 per room, up to four people per room, but the lower price D.C. area motels are not for the faint at heart, so stay in large groups. The entire city will be packed with patriots though, so help is just a shout away. Many of the nearby hotels are sold out already, but there are plenty within 10 to 15 miles from the capitol. We plan on staying about 10 miles out, parking the rental car for the weekend (there will be heavy traffic) and using the D.C. Metro (buses and trains) to travel inner city.

On Saturday morning, Oklahomans will rally at a yet to be determined rally point, then march behind an Oklahoman flag to one of the four columns of patriots converging on Capitol Hill. Those Oklahomans who arrive earlier in the week can help us rally at our Congressional offices to make sure our Congressmen and women understand just how strong our convictions are.

Fellow Oklahomans, all of us are troubled at the insanity that we have allowed at the Federal level, all of us are worried about the future. We are troubled in part because most of us have not earned our freedom. We know that what is not earned is easily taken away. We must pay the price of freedom, we must seize our freedom back from those who have stolen it bit by bit. We also know there are valid reasons to worry.

Will our dollar collapse with the insane spending policies of Barack Hussein Obama?

Will our children’s and grand children’s future taxes continue to be spent supporting the unions, Acorn, and the liberal agenda?

Will the madman continue his grab for power over our most personal of needs, our health care?

Will he “save” Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare by the denial of life saving medicine and procedures?

Will his “Doctor Death” advisers implement population control here in our land?

Will we stand by why our religious leaders are prosecuted for “hate speech” for their views?

Will our second amendment rights be taken in the dead of night by one of his executive orders?

Will we continue to allow union thugs and black panthers to intimidate us at the town halls and polling places?

Will we wake up one morning beholden to foreign courts, have our valiant soldiers prosecuted for war crimes after a battle with terrorists?

Will our small American farmer be legislated out of existence?

Will our industrial base be driven out of existence by regulation and cap and trade taxes?

Will we still have an energy sector in our economy or will our oil and gas companies be destroyed with regulation and taxes?

We must stop Barack Hussein Obama before he completely destroys the very fabric of this country, ensure that Congress, the Supreme Court, and the national media understands that they have awakened a sleeping giant, that patriotic Americans may have been the silent majority, but that we are silent no more. I know that times are hard, that traveling to D.C. is going to be a hardship, but we must not allow this country to take a single step backward into the socialist morass. Stand up, Oklahomans, stand up for the generations to come, stand up for yourself.

Please join us on September 10th, 11th, and 12th as we begin to take back our country.

Healthcare Freedom Rally August 22nd

August 11, 2009

We The People

Join the Sooner Tea Party as we say No to Socialized Healthcare and say yes to Healthcare Freedom.

We’ll have a variety of speakers from the medical establishment, the legal and justice system, and ordinary Americans to speak about what liberties we have lost and what we will lose if Congress and the Administration pass Socialized Healthcare.

Bring your signs and your feisty American mettle.

Where: Oklahoma State Capitol
When: August 22nd, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Restrooms available, you must go through security to access.

Please consider donating to help us put on this rally.  The major expense for us is an adequate sound system.  The sound system we rented for the July 4th rally and that we hope to use again for the August 22nd rally cost us $1,000 and it came with an expert technician.

All donors will receive a financial spreadsheet showing donations in and expenses out.  You can rest assured that your money will be spent wisely.  We are not a large organization, just a group of working people who volunteer our time and resources to put on these rallies to allow other frustrated patriots to show the politcians what we’re made of.

We are in the process of filing with the IRS as a 501 (c)4 organization.  But that takes money too.
